Tanya and Justin chose Misquamicut Beach as their wedding site because they thought “how amazing would it be if we could get married on the beach near where we live?” Plus, they didn’t want a formal wedding, they wanted “relaxed, comfortable, toes in the sand, but still stunning (and the beach gives you that)!”
The couple got married in their favorite month, September. The bride said “You know how every girl dreams of perfect weather on their wedding day, I was lucky enough to have it! The whole wedding weekend was Perfect! Crystal blue skies and barely a soul on the beach! The pictures made it look like we got married on our own private island!”
Of the many great memories from the day, the bride said, “Having all my girls together celebrating (mimosas) while we had our hair and make-up done by Maria and Rose from Bella Vita Salon for the big day! I have never looked or felt so beautiful in my whole life! They were fabulous!”
The groom decided to take all the wedding pictures prior to the ceremony, so their photographer Cathy suggested they do a “first look” photo. The bride went down to the beach and faced the opposite direction, then the groom was signaled to come down to the beach and walk toward her. She remembers how excited she was “as he stepped closer and closer, then we finally turned to one another, the feeling was incredible!”
Having her brother walk her down the aisle and dance the first dance was also very special for the bride since her father passed away in 2009 in an accident. She was asked how she was able to have butterflies released as she walked down the aisle, she simply said “I didn’t know you could rent butterflies because I had nothing to do with it.” “I think my dad was in charge of the butterflies and the picture perfect day!”
The whole wedding gang joined the bride and groom for a group photo, even Jasper, the bride’s 13 year old Pug (who is a huge part of the family) was there in his cute little bow tie. She said, “I swear he looked proud that day!”
The ceremony and reception took place at the Windjammer Mariner Room . The bride recalls “we danced that night away! All I can remember is dancing, dancing, dancing! When our party ended, a band was performing at the Windjammer Surf Bar next door and I danced the rest of the night in my wedding gown on their dance floor. It was a blast!”
The couple’s advice for anyone considering a Wedding in Westerly, RI: “Do It!” “It’s a beautiful, affordable destination.” They also recommend considering a wedding a little into off-season because “the crowds go down, the prices go down, and the weather is still great!” “Happy Planning!”
